穿戴；上演；體重增加
put on 有很多的意思，我列出最常看到的三個意思：穿戴；上演；體重增加。
put on 穿戴的範圍非常大，有穿上衣服、鞋子，戴上口罩、眼鏡、手錶、珠寶和帽子等等，甚至化妝也是用這個片語。
put on 是可分開片語，例如：穿上我的鞋子 put on my shoes 或是 put my shoes on。注意，如果受詞是代名詞 it 或是 them，就只能 put it on 和 put them on ，不可以放在 off 的後面。
put on 第二個意思是【上演】。樂團做表演，或是學校、團體舉辦戲劇的表演，要表達出上演的概念，這個動作就是用 put on。put on a show 舉辦一場表演，通常這種表演都是比較正式的；put on a play 舉辦一個戲劇的表演。
put on 第三個意思是【體重增加】，這個講法比起直接說變胖來得委婉，也比較口語的表達。這個用法 put on 不可分開。
wear 和 put on 的不同。put on 是強調動作，描述穿戴行為的發生，動作發生後就結束了，穿上，戴上。wear 是穿戴狀況的描述，穿著什麼，戴著什麼。
A: Here are your slippers. Put them on.
B: Thanks. I feel very comfortable now.
A: 這是你的拖鞋。把它們穿上。
B: 謝謝。我現在覺得很舒服。
I can’t read the sign from here. I’ll have to put my glasses on.
我從這裡無法看清楚招牌。我必須戴上我的眼鏡。
You have to put on a mask before using public transportation. It is mandatory.
在你使用公共交通工具之前，你必須戴上口罩。這是強制的規定。

My sister put on too much makeup. She looks like a clown.

I need to stop eating so much chocolate. I'm putting on too much weight.
我要停止吃這麼多的巧克力。我體重增加太多了。
A: Did you see him? He's put on some weight.
B: Yes, he looks a little unhealthy now.
A: 你有看到他嗎？他增加了一些體重。
B: 是的，他現在看起來有一點不健康。
Wear your rain boots today. It's going to pour later on.
今天你要穿雨鞋。等一會要下大雨了。

片語：later on 稍後；之後
講解：Wear your rain boots today. 這是一個祈使句，叫【你】去做什麼，可以替換成：Put on your rain boots today.
A: What are you wearing to the party?
B: I'm going to wear a dress and high heels.
A: 你要穿什麼去參加派對？
B: 我要穿洋裝和高跟鞋。
